    • 1940 Freeport Journal Standard; June 18th, 1940, Weddings Burns Hacke tt - This morning at 8:00 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Polo, the marri age of Miss Pauline E. Hackett, of that city, and Dr. Edward M. Burn s, of Freeport, was solemnized. The ceremony was performed at a nuptial M ass performed celebrated by Rev. A. J.Deitch. Simplicity was the keyno te of the ceremony, garden flowers being used and decoration of the alt ar and the church. Mrs. C. E. Rose, of Polo, gave a program of violin mus ic, her accompanist, Miss Honora Kramer, changing to "Bridal Chorus" fr om "Lohengrim" as the wedding party entered the church. The bride wo re a gray and dusty rose print with a matching chiffon coat, a large pi nk felt hat, pink sandals and gloves and one single white orchid. She car ried a white prayer book. Miss Mary Louise Bacon, of Aurora, a cous in of the bride, was bridesmaid. She wore an afternoon dress of heaven bl ue crepe. A large leghorn hat and carried a French bouquet. John Burn s, of Beloit Wisconsin, served as best man for his brother. A wedding bre akfast followed the ceremony at the home of the bride's parents, white a nd green being the color scheme carried out with peonies and other white g arden flowers. The bride and groom left on a wedding trip to the northe rn part of Wisconsin, the bride's traveling costume being a brown and whi te crepe with white accessories. On their return to Freeport they will be gin housekeeping at 304 North Chicago Ave. The bride, only daughter of M r. and Mrs. James Hackett, of Polo, was graduated from Polo high-school a nd attended Milliken University at Decatur. She is a member of Phi Beta P hi sorority. She comes to Freeport where she has a host of friends, ma de during the years she has been a teacher in the primary grade at the Cen ter school. The groom is the elder son of Dr. and Mrs. Robert J. Burns, S outh Liberty Avenue. He was graduated from Freeport High School and the U niversity of Illinois College of Medicine and is associated with his fath er in the practice of medicine. He is a member of the Alpha Kappa Kappa f raternity. Among the Freeport friends attending the nuptials were Dr. a nd Mrs. Robert J. Burns, their daughter Mrs. Lon Clark, of Cincinnati Oh io who is visiting here, Mr. and Mrs. L. Leroy Coomber and Monsignor CF Co nley.
