Note that Marie "Mary" Lamure was 1/8 Menominee Indian; her mother Genevive "Jane" DeRochier was 1/4 Menominee Indian. All the children born to Joseph Lamure and Genevive "Jane" were 1/8 Menominee. Under the 1848 US Treaty with the Menominee, the Joseph Lamure family, in lieu of living on the Menominee Reservation, received a payment from the US Government. "1848 Menominee and US Treaty Settlement Transcriptions" LeMure, Joseph, for wife and children only 1 Female (wife Genevive "Jane"; 2 Males 1 female Paid $250 on 09 July 1848. Note that the name changes from Lamure to LeMure. Possibly there was some type of relationship between Genevive "Jane" DeRochier and the wife of Amable Asselin.
