Biography	See the book "The Savages of County Louth and America" by Zoe Lappin for a detailed look at the family history Our Savage family came to the United States in 1850 during the Great Famine to work in textile mills in New England and then fanned out across the nation. The immigrants lived in California, Connecticut, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Rhode Island, South Carolina and Wisconsin. They homesteaded, farmed, served in the military, worked on the railroads and reclamation projects, became priests and nuns, entered professions - virtually everything imaginable to further the great America experiment. Some fell on hard times, others became wealthy. Now, after more than 30 years of research, writing and walking where the Savages walked in both America and Ireland, Zoe von Ende Lappin is offering her history of her great-great-grandparents, Patrick and Rose Brodigan Savage, their 10 immigrant children and two generations of American-born descendants.
