    Notes
    • Sharon was born with Down Syndrom. When she was born the doctors toldher mother to put her into the institution and go home and telleveryone that the baby was born dead. Jeanne said that after lookinginto Sharon's beautiful blue eyes they had to take her home. So shetook her child home. Jeanne said she saw an angel in Sharon. Jeannewas right! Sharon was a great joy to everyone in her family. Herfavorite doll was a large plastic doll which she named Michael Synder. It sat on her bed. She bowled in the special olympics and wonseveral ribbons and medals. Sharon used to watch her brothers andsister go to school and would ask when would it be her turn. Sincethere was no school for special needs children, her mother JeanneBonzelet started a school for them in her basement. This was thefirst school of its kind. It led to the establishment of a realschool called the Plamann School and eventually to the incorporatingof special education students into the regular ed classroom. Sheloved to talk to people and would often ask questions over and overagain so that they would talk to her. Sharon would sit at the tablewhile others played cards, she was the official card cutter and shetook this job very seriously. She loved T.V. and her favorite channelwas channel 2. She knew when and at what time every show came on.She loved bubble bath and perfume. Sharon touched many lives beforeshe died. She died a very painful death resulting from kidneyfailure. But as her family cried around her hospital bed Sharon wasnot worried about herself she was trying to comfort her family.Telling them not to cry that everything would be ok.
