  Siebers, O.Praem Father Glen FrancisAge 80, a member of the Norbertine community of St. Norbert Abbey, De Per e, WI, and a Norbertine priest, passed into Gods eternal kingdom on Augu st 10, 2003.Father Siebers, son of the late Henry and Henrietta (Emmers) Siebers was b orn in Kimberly, WI on May 4, 1923. His home parish was St. John Nepomuce ne Parish, Little Chute, WI.In 1942 Father Siebers graduated from St. John High School, Little Chut e, WI. He received a B.A. degree in Philosophy from St. Norbert Colleg e, De Pere, WI in 1946 and an M.A. degree in the Classics from Villanova U niversity, Villanova, PA in 1962.On October 26, 1946 Father Siebers entered St. Norbert Abbey and was vest ed as a novice. He professed Simple Vows on August 28, 1948, and Solemn Vo ws on April 10, 1950. On June 3, 1950, he was ordained to the Priesthood.Father Siebers served on the faculties of Abbot Pennings High School, De P ere, WI; Archmere Academy, Claymont, DE; Bishop Neumann High School, Phila delphia, PA; and Premontre High School, Green Bay, WI. He served as assist ant pastor at St. Michael Parish, Port Austin, MI and as Pastor at St. Jos eph Parish, Oneida, WI. Father also served as chaplain at Seton Villa in W ilmington, DE, and Villa West, a diocesan home for the elderly in Green Ba y, WI.After 25 years of teaching at Premontre High School, Father Siebers retire d. He continued to assist in the development office at Notre Dame Acade my (formerly Premontre High School) updating alumni records. At the ti me of his death, he resided at St. Norbert Abbey where he was involv ed in Internal Ministry.Fr. Siebers was a great conversationalist and loved to talk about the ne ws of the day, especially the political scene. He had an interest in garde ning and had a garden in almost every place he was assigned. He was famo us for his rose garden at Premontre, commonly referred to as Glens glad e. He enjoyed good humor, especially a good line and showed his appreciati on with a characteristic Siebers chuckle. He loved to travel. He had ju st spent a week at a cabin in the north woods and was anticipating a fa ll bus trip. His congeniality, his love of Latin, and his keen intere st in others will all be greatly missed.Father Siebers is survived by the Norbertine Community; two brothers, Ma rk of New Jersey and Roger of Maryland; three sisters, Germaine (Wayne) Sh illcox, Appleton, WI, Ruth (Ralph) Bewick, Appleton, WI and Mary Ann (Pau l) Carnot, Kaukauna, WI; nieces and nephews. He is further survived by t wo sisters-in-law, Patricia Siebers, Brookfield, WI and Alvina Neller, App leton, WI. Father Siebers was preceded in death by his parents and four br others, Robert, Orville, George, and Paul.The Reception of the Body/Vespers of the Dead Service will be held in S t. Norbert Abbey on Friday, August 15, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will f ollow until 9 p.m. and will continue on Saturday, August 16, 2003 from 8: 30 a.m. until 10 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the S t. Norbert Abbey Church on Saturday, August 16, 2003, at 10 a.m. Abbot Ga ry J. Neville, O. Praem., will preside at the funeral liturgy and his neph ew, Rev. Timothy D. Shillcox, O. Praem. will be the homilist. Burial wi ll be in the St. Norbert Abbey Cemetery. Ryan Funeral Home, De Per e, is in charge of the arrangements.
