  Bernhardt, Clarence A.Age 86, passed away from an automobile accident Wednesday, January 21, 200 4. He was born on August 29, 1917 in Manitowoc, son of the late Alfred a nd Lena Bernhardt. On April 5, 1946, he was united in marriage to Fern Bas tian of Brillion. They spent their entire married lives farming in the To wn of Brillion. Clarence was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfa ther and great-grandfather. The farm was his life’s work and the pla ce of immediate and extended family gatherings. His grandchildren enjoy ed visiting and being grandpa’s little helpers in the barn. He was known f or his sweet tooth, spoiling his grandchildren with candy and late night i ce cream treats. Clarence was a member of Rural Brillion United Methodi st Church, the United Methodist Brotherhood, and the Brillion Sr. Citizens .Survivors include his sons: Charles (Joanne) Bernhardt, Brillion; John (Bo nny) Bernhardt, Brillion; Mark (Cheryl) Bernhardt, Denmark; Thomas Bernhar dt, Brillion; his daughters: Nancy (Gene) Strehlow, Menomonee Falls; Deb ra (Mike) Schneider, Brillion; 15 grandchildren: Amiee and Miranda Bernhar dt, Oshkosh; Christine Bernhardt, Brillion; Marcia Bernhardt, Milwaukee; D arryl Bernhardt, Brillion; Jennifer Stehlow, Milwaukee; Tina (Tadd) Hilgen dorf, Plantation, FL; Jeff Strehlow, Menomonee Falls; Ashley and Erin Bern hardt, and Amanda Weise, Denmark; Craig Schneider, La Crosse; Corey, Cy le and Casey Schneider, all of Brillion; a great-granddaughter, MacKenz ie Larson, Milwaukee; and a brother, Fred (Leah) Bernhardt, Racin e. He is further survived by a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law: R oy and June Bastian, Brillion; Erna Luedtke, Lark; many nieces, nephews a nd other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife Fern on Octob er 6, 2002; two brothers and their wives: Harold (Florence) Bernhardt, Rob ert (Emmy Lou) Bernhardt; two sisters: Bernice Bernhardt, Gladys Heinric h; two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law: Irene (Wesley) Schmidt, M abel (Elmer) Kruschke, and Warren Luedtke.Funeral service will be held Monday, January 26th, at 11 a.m., at Rural Br illion United Methodist Church. The Rev. Warren Waddell will officiate. En tombment will follow at Knollwood Mausoleum in Manitowoc. Friends may ca ll at the Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. a nd at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
