George a nd Johanna were both siblings to my great-grandfather Peter Johannes Onkel s. I don't know how much information you'd be interested but I will te ll you what I have. For George and Mary I have their 1900, 1905 and 19 10 Census records, a couple of city directory entries and a birth certific ate for their son Joseph. I also have census records for George when he li ved with his family. I have 2 Census records from Venray in the Netherlan ds where he is listed as Gerardus Hubertus born 22 Sept 1864. I also ha ve U.S. Census records for the family for 1870 and 1880 and 1900.George's parents were Peter Frans Onkels and Elizabeth Berterams. Accordi ng to the Venray census records Peter was born 19 April 1831 in Louisendo rf (Prussia, Germany). Elizabeth was born 8 November 1827 in Venray. Th ey were married 2 June 1862 in Venray.There were six children on the census. This is where is gets a bit intere sting because the two oldest children have Elizabeth's surname of Berteram s. The oldest is my great-grandfather Peter Johannes (25 June 1857), a nd the second oldest was Johanna (27 January 1859). When they came to t he U.S. however they used the Onkels surname. A while a man named Bill Pe ppey whose wife is a great-granddaughter of Johanna and Bernard Kobussen c ontacted me after seeing a query I posted on Rootsweb surname board. He t ook the information I gave him from the census records and found Johanna 's birth certificate. He wrote to me that her certificate had her grandfa ther (Johannes Berterams) name in the place that the father's name would n ormally have gone and describes her mother Elizabeth as his unmarried daug hter.The other children on the Census were listed as Onkels and were as follows :

The Onkels family left Venray 28 September 1868 for Wisconsin.In the 1870 Census I have one more child for them Maria born in 1870.Some more information that I have includes marriage certificates for Johan na Onkels to Bernard Kobussen, Maria Onkels to Peter Kirkhof, and Petronel la Onkels to Lambert Neesacker.I have some additional information that I mostly found on the internet th at I could also share with you, I just thought I would give you this to be gin with so that you could see if you'd be interested in hearing more.You are welcome to any information that I have. I could make copies for y ou and send them. Likewise, if you have any additional information I wou ld love to share it with you.I don't know where Myrtle Onkels or Glen Paul Onkels would fit in, b ut I do recall seeing Glen Paul's name on a tree on the internet. I tri ed e-mailing the person who posted the tree but I received no response.I don't have any death dates for either Peter Frans Onkels or his wife Eli zabeth. I posted my original message about St. Mary's Cemetery hopi ng to find out if perhaps they may have been buried there. I know from h is death certificate that my great-grandfather Peter Johannes is buried th ere so I thought I would give it a try as well as seeing if and other Onke ls are buried there. According to Bill, he found Peter in the 1885 Cens us but not the 1895 so it could be likely that he died sometime within tho se 10 years. This is also the only Onkels family that I could find that i mmigrated to Wisconsin so I think it could be safe to say that anyone wi th the Onkels surname with Wisconsin roots would be connected to this fami ly.
