Denis immigrated to the U.S. and settled in Sevastopol, Door, Wisconsin as a farmer by 1860. He was married to Anne Golden and had two children named Johanna and Dennis. He served in the Civil War in the Eleventh Wisconsin Infantry; Company I. Denis died in 1870.
