Notes for Zirkwitz are with the notes of that location. Johann Friedrich Wilhelm Tank was born in Germany in 1826, the sixth child of Karl Gottlieb Tank and Maria Fredericka Hintz. Called Friedrich by his family, he married Dorothea Friedericka W. Kupfals. Together they had five known children. Dorothea died four days after delivering their last child, an infant who died at birth. Friedrich's second marriage was to Albertine Caroline Marie Mildebrath, and with her he had seven more children. In 1883, Friedrich and Albertine and their five children, as well as Ferdinand, Dorothea's son, immigrated aboard the ship "Bohemia," arriving in New York on April 16, 1883. They located in LaSalle County, Illinois, and engaged in farming. Unfortunately, Friedrich died just a few years after their arrival. Within a short time his widow and their children again relocated to Outagamie County, Wisconsin, where most of them remained and raised families of their own. Albertine survived her husband by seventeen years and died in the town of Harrison, Outagamie County, shortly before her 73rd birthday.
