  Carmen H. Paul, age 91, Bear Creek, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at Pine Manor Health Care Center. Carmen was born on June 24, 1918, in Shiocton, daughter of the late James and Emma (Puls) Thornton. During her life she worked with Gus on the family farm and also worked part time at the Iola Hospital. Carmen is survived by her husband, Marlin "Gus"; two sons: Gary (Linda) Knapp, Shiocton; and Robert Paul (special friend Ellen), Bear Creek; a sister, Edith Johnson, Carolina; two grandchildren, Sara and Terry. She is further survived by many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Arnold Knapp (1947), two brothers: James "Bud" Thornton and John Thornton, two sisters: Grace Godell and Helen Solem. Funeral Services for Carmen will be held on Monday, February 22, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Borchardt & Moder Funeral Home, Shiocton with Rev. F.K. Berger officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Shiocton-Bovina Cemetery.
