  Barbara Zemke, 73, Neenah, died Thursday, December 08, 2011, after a short illness with her family by her side at Cherry Meadows Hospice. She was born March 10, 1938, in Neenah, to Henry and Marie (Muthig) Sauer. Barbara married Richard W. Zemke of Menasha on November 7, 1959. Barbara was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Neenah. She was employed as a secretary at American Can Company for many years until her retirement. Barbara enjoyed planting and tending to her numerous perennial gardens and making a warm and inviting home for her husband, children and grandchildren. Barbara is survived by her husband, Richard; children: Brenda (James) Rucinski, Broken Arrow, OK; David Zemke, Beloit; Brad (Sara) Zemke, Neenah; 2 grandchildren: Drew and Allison Rucinski; brother and sister: Leroy (Sylvia) Sauer, Appleton; Sharon (Gerhardt) Krepline, Hilbert; nieces, nephews and other relatives. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Carol Basler. In accordance with Barbara's wishes, private family services will be held. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Barbara's name. Barbara's family wishes to thank all the caregivers at Appleton Medical Center and Theda Clark Medical Center for their wonderful care and compassion.
