  Andrew Bartlein, 64, lifelong resident of the town of Harrison, Calumet county, died Thursday evening at 8 o'clock at St. Elizabeth's hospital in Appleton as the result of injuries sustained Thursday afternoon in Appleton when the automobile he was driving was struck broadside by a passenger train at the Appleton street crossing as the train was drawing into the station. His car was pushed 187 feet and was demolished. Mr. Bartlein was born Dec. 18, 1876 in the town of Harrison and was one of the leading farmers of the rural section east of Menasha. Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Renona Bartlein, Milwaukee; two sons, Ronald Bartlein, at home; and Russell Bartlein, Webster, Wis; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Eckrich, Menasha; Mrs. Louise Arno, Oshkosh; and Mrs. George Wilz, Route 1, Menasha; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9:30 at the residence in the town of Harrison; and at 10 o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic church with Rev. Msgr. John Hummel officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery. Friends my call at the residence Saturday afternoon and until the time of the service. ~Oshkosh Northwestern, March 28, 1941, pg. 10
