  Joan M. Williamsen, age 62, of Appleton passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday morning, February 15, 2016. She was born on September 15, 1953 in Neenah, Wisconsin daughter of the late Lloyd and Lola (Huebner) Nichols. On May 21, 1989 she married David J. Williamsen at Doty Park in Menasha. Their marriage was blessed with almost 28 wonderful years. Joan was the family's party planner and caregiver to her mother, Lola, and sister, Lynn. She enjoyed gardening, kayaking, biking, boating on the Chain of Lakes, and walking her beloved dog, Sadie. Joan's greatest joy was the time she spent with her cherished grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her husband, David; her son, Josh (Dawn) Wanty, Waupaca; her grandchildren: Allexica Moeller; Brelynn, Hunter, and Rielan Wanty; siblings: Richard Nichols, Tim (Janie Stevenson) Nichols, Mark (Mardell) Nichols, Kirk (Sandy) Nichols, Sue (Don) Butler, Mary Nichols, Chris (Terry) Nichols; brother-in-law, John Duvall; siblings-in-law: Barb (Marv) Gossen, Robert (Jan) Williamsen, Thomas Williamsen, Elizabeth Williamsen, William (Kim) Williamsen, Debra (Ronald) McAbee; several nieces, nephews, many friends, and neighbors. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lynn Duvall; sister-in-law, Nancy Nichols; and a nephew, Dan Butler. The Funeral Service for Joan will be held on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Menasha's Westgor Funeral Home with Rev. Martin Ruge officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Joan's name.
