  CASHTON, Wis. - Leo J. Hemmersbach, 68, of Sparta, Wis., and formerly of S t. Mary's Ridge, Wis., died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, near Menomonie, Wi s. He was born Jan. 4, 1933, on St. Mary's Ridge to Gertrude Hemmersbac h. He was raised by his grandparents, John and Mary (Flock) Hemmersbac h. On Oct. 1, 1952, he was united in marriage to Anna Mae Antony at St. Ma ry's Catholic Church in Bangor, Wis.Leo was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Korean War from February 19 53 to February 1955. After the war, he moved back to his grandparents ho me farm and operated Leo's Trucking and the Ridge Club Tavern in St. Mary 's Ridge. He recently semi-retired to the Sparta area but continued drivi ng milk truck. Leo was an active member of Lions, Eagles, American Legi on and Cashton VFW Post #8584, where he was currently the commander.He is survived by his wife, Anna Mae of Sparta; eight children, Thomas (Bo nnie) Hemmersbach of Appleton, Wis., Mark (Janet) Hemmersbach of Sparta, M iles (Denyse) Hemmersbach of Bremmerton, Wash., Anthony (Krissy) Hemmersba ch of Cashton, Todd Hemmersbach of Sparta, Bruce (Diane) Hemmersbach of Pl ain, Wis., Lisa Brown of Sparta and Richard (Marcy) Hemmersbach of Spart a; and 15 grandchildren, Lee Michael Hemmersbach of La Crosse, Seth (Melis sa) Hemmersbach of Onalaska, Wis., Lori Hemmersbach of Appleton, Wis., Jes sica Kaczmarski of Holmen, Wis., Andrianna Hemmersbach of Bremmerton, Josl yn Olson, Jarod Olson and Jordon Olson of Cashton, Kyle, April, Aimee a nd Kristin Hemmersbach of Plain, Leo Anthony Brown of Sparta, Alex Hemmers bach and Gabriel Hemmersbach of Sparta.He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Mary Hemmersbach; h is mother, Gertrude Hemmersbach; and one son, Timothy John Hemmersbach.Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's C atholic Church on St. Mary's Ridge. Burial will follow at a later date. Mi litary rites will be provided by Cashton VFW Post #8584. Relatives and fri ends are invited for visitation at Torkelson Funeral Home in Cashton Thurs day, Aug. 9, 2001, from 5 to 9 p.m., with a rosary at 5 p.m. Visitation al so will be Friday at the funeral home from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Torkelson Funer al Home in Cashton will be assisting the family with arrangements. Note from another genealogist.I do not know if you should have Leo Hemmersbach in the Leis famil y, it is by rumor, that his father is Stanislus Leis, as you may not ha ve noticed that his (Leo) mother is a sister to Stan Leis wife, and that t hey are having babies at the time of his marriage, he never married Gertru de, it is a awful story
