  Peter C. Leis Jr., 86, of Sparta, WI, formerly of Cashton, WI, passed away Monday, January 9, 2012, at Time for Ease in Sparta. Peter was born May 3, 1925 to Peter and Mary (Suhr) Leis in Brush Creek, WI. He farmed his whole life, a job that he truly loved. November 14, 1951, he married Julia Schreier and together they farmed and raised eight children. Peter is survived by his children: Carol (Charles Morgan) Leis of Sparta, Barbara (Ted) Denning of Chippewa Falls, Janet (Jim) Chapiewsky of Cashton, Joan (Terry) Leland of West Salem, Sharon (Nick) Trujillo of Melrose, Patrick (Shannon) Leis of Cashton, Philip (Lori) Leis of Cashton, and Susan (Howard) Larson of Bangor; a brother, George (Dolores) Leis of Sparta; sister, Theresa Schaub of Middle Ridge; sister-in-law, Gracia Leis of Sparta; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Peter was preceded in death by his wife, Julia; parents; one granddaughter, Katie Leis; a great-granddaughter Ava Steponik; a sister, Mary (George) Brueggeman; brothers, Albert (Esther) Leis and Martin Leis; and a brother-in-law, Otto Schaub. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church on St. Mary?s Ridge, Thursday, January 12, 2012, 11:00 a.m. Father Michael Klos will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends are invited for visitation Wednesday, January 11, 2012, starting at 4:00 p.m. and concluding with the Rosary being prayed at 7:00 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Cashton, WI. Visitation will also be held Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Cashton.
