Her parents were PETER and CATHERINE PAULUS. They came to the Unit ed States about 1853, settling in Neillsville, WI, and Catherine died shor tly thereafter. Family legend has it that Peter was a teamster in the Civ il War, and was killed in Little Rock. Supposedly Catherine came from a p rominent family, but Peter "wasn't much." I have no idea what her maid en name was.Peter and Catherine had several children besides my GGrandmother Elizabet h. The eldest, Barbara Paulus, was born 18 April 1844, in "Alsace Lorrain e, Germany." Having spent my junior year in Strasbourg, I am a ware of the multi-faceted character of the area. But I am not familiar wi th the genealogical research resources available. Nor am I sure how to sta rt this search. Any advice would be most welcome.PS- Elizabeth married Johann Frederick Patzer, and lived in Wausau, WI. A nn Powers Norwalk, CT
