Hunziker, James R., N. Fort M yers, Florida,Age 76, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2003 at Milwaukee Hospice Residen ce in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.He was born on May 2, 1927 in Merrill, Wisconsin; the son of the late Leon ard and Adela (Klebenow) Hunziker.He was a long time resident of Wisconsin and was employed as an auto mecha nic at Len’s Garage in Merrill, Wisconsin which his father owned. He work ed as a plant manager for Foremost Foods, Shiocton Canning, and Seymour Fo ods for many years of his career. He pursued his love for the building tra des, was a licensed electrician and became self-employed as a general cont ractor. He was a building inspector for Grand Chute, Seymour, and the Hort onville, in the Wisconsin areas.While growing up, Jim loved fishing and camping with his family. He w as in the Navy from 1945-1946. When he retired to Florida, Jim made the mo ve by water with his sailboat from Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin to Ft. Myers, F lorida. After being retired for a year he returned to work as an electric al inspector for the City of Cape Coral, Florida until he retired at age 7 4. Jim loved living in Florida where he made many very dear friends who lo ved him and his delightful sense of humor.Jim was a builder who loved to invent new ways to accomplish a job, wheth er it was finding a way to install an elevator where one was never intend ed to be or turning a sailboat into a living space miracle, or even a simp le thing like turning his backyard into what seemed to be an Olympic si ze skating rink for his children.Creating was his greatest love, but optimism was his greatest gift. He alw ays looked for and found the best in everyone around him. He is deeply mis sed.Survivors include his two daughters: Sandra Hunziker, Milwaukee, Wisconsi n; and S. Lark (Jack) Eckard, Phillips, Wisconsin; a son, Steven (Caroly n) Hunziker, Tigard, Oregon; two sisters: Eileen (Rod) Bohn, Sturgeon Ba y; and Barbara (Henry) Sukow, Appleton, Wisconsin; his aunt, Julia Hunzike r, Ft. Myers, Florida; two granddaughters: Gretchen (Hurbie) Harris, Wauke sha, Wisconsin; and LaBeth (Bob) Daehne, Phillips, Wisconsin; and his form er wife, Jean Deltgen, Menasha, Wisconsin.Memorial services in Wisconsin and Florida are pending. In lieu of flower s, the family requests that memorials be made in Jim’s name to Milwaukee H ospice Residence, 4097 N. 92nd St., Wauwatosa, WI 53222.
