  Elmer Gustav Ernst Federwitz, age 88, of Chilton, took the hand of his Lord and Savior, as he entered Heavens Gates on June 5, 2009. Elmer was born on July 21, 1920, in Chilton, WI to the late Theodore and Freida (Stecker) Federwitz. He was baptized on August 15, 1920. Elmer married Dorothy Schwalenberg on September 27, 1941, in Hilbert, and they shared 53 years of happiness together. Elmer was very active in his community. He belonged to St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert and served as Elder, Trustee, and was a member of the Men's Club. Elmer served on the Ag & Extension, Soil Conservation & Water, Finance, Highway, and Planning & Zoning Committees of Calumet County. He also served on the Calumet County Board of Supervisors and was instrumental in the inception of Hwy 441 in the Fox Valley. Elmer served as Director of the Chilton Co-Op, Farm Bureau, Fox Valley Farm Management, and the Federal Land Bank where he was Chairman of the Board of Directors. Elmer also served as Chairman of the Town of Chilton for 24 years and was involved in the inception of the Town of Chilton Landfill. Through all of Elmer's service to his community, he most loved the land he worked and farmed. During his time of farming from 1943 until 1992, he earned several awards and recognitions, but he took the greatest pride in being named Farmer of the Year in Calumet County in 1978. He is survived by four sons and three daughters: DuWayne (Ginny) Federwitz, Clintonville; Eugene (Beverly) Federwitz, Kimberly; Don (Jane) Federwitz, Las Vegas, NV; Larry (Sandy) Federwitz, Phoenix, AZ; Sandra (Gary) Mirsberger, Hilbert; Nancy (Don) Hawkins, Combined Locks; Sheryl (Doug) Dohr, Appleton; 21 grandchildren: Denise Ce'sar, Dennis Federwitz, Dorie Daharsh, Darla Beckwith, Douglas Federwitz, Wendy Domena, Peggy Gardner, Jeff Federwitz, Heidi Hamilton, Stephanie Federwitz, Mike Federwitz, Megan Federwitz, Lori Zahn, Ryan Mirsberger, Nick Mirsberger, Sarah Mirsberger, Matt Hawkins, Mychele Hawkins, Crystal Seba, Dustin Dohr, Tanya Keefe; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Loretta Hillmann; and a brother and sister-in-law: Edmund (Marcella) Federwitz. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Dorothy; his brother Raymond; two brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law. Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2009, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert with the Rev. Brian Crane officiating. Burial will be in the parish Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009, and on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. A special thanks to Dr. Gene Tipler, Dr. Derek Fischer, Dr. Patrick O'Brien, and Dr. Bradley Lauderdale.
