  APPLETON POST-CRESCENT, Saturday Evening, July 30 1932 Honor Memories of Two Judges of Langlade-Co Two deceased Judges of the Langlade Co circuit court, Judge George H. Myers, father of Miss Ada Myers, 132 E. Lawrence St. and Judge John Goodland, father of Mayor John Goodland Jr. were honored Monday at Antigo when tbeir portraits were formally unveiled in the court room there. The unveiling and acceptance by the county board followed a program of music, biographical sketches, reminiscences and tributes in the presence of officials and members of the Langlade County Historical Society, bar association, County board and others. The biography of Judge Myers was read by H. F. Morson and E. A. Morse read the biography of Judge Goodland. Judge Myers was born Oct. 24 1824 in Middleton Delaware Co. New York and at the age of four years moved with his parents to Erie County Pennsylvania. He was admitted to the bar in Pennsylvania in May 1849, after which he moved to Appleton then a village of two or three hundred persons. He was the first lawyer to open an office In Outagamie Co when it was organized In the spring of 1852. He was chosen disrict attorney for the short term of nine months. He served as County Judge and resigned to join the 50th regular infantry volunteers,of which he was adjutant. Before that he had served as draft-commissioner under Gov. Solomon. After the war was over he served several terms an city attorney. In 1868 be was appointed postmaster of Appleton and held the office for eight years. Named Circuit Judge In 1878 be was appointed circuit Judge to fill the vacancy which occurred by the resignation of Judge Ellis. He filled the unexpired term and was twice re-elected. He died Aug 1 1891, a few months before the expiration of his secoad term. He was a member of the Masonic order and the G.A.R. and was an active member of the Methodist church.
