Delmar R. Schroeder, age 90, of Chilton, died on Friday, May 27, 2011, at the Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. He was born August 29, 1920 in Hilbert, son of the late George & Martha (Hintz) Schroeder. Delmar proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII and upon his discharge, he returned to Wisconsin where he worked at the Killsnake Cheese Factory for 40 years before retiring in 1983. He married Delores Behnke on July 15, 1950 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert and enjoyed their lives together. She preceded him in death on March 17, 1994. Delmar was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where he served on many of the church boards and groups. He was also a member of the Hilbert American Legion for over 60 years. He was a kind hearted man with a gentle personality. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and neighbor whose living presence, kind acts, and gentle words will be greatly missed. Delmar always loved to spend time with his family; whether he was bowling with his wife in younger years, or sitting down around the card table, he was forever looking forward to spending time with family. He was an avid Packer and Brewer fan, but was the biggest fan of his grandchildren when they were participating in sports. He is survived by his children: Donna (Jerry) Marose, Stockbridge; Daniel (Linda) Schroeder, Hilbert; DeAnn (Tim) Eldred, Sherwood; Dawn (Michael) Grimmer, Appleton; 10 grandchildren: Ben (Missy), Andy (Carrie) Laurie (Steve), Jordan (Special Friend, Brittany), Joel (Special Friend, Hannah) Amanda (Special Friend, Wes), Tyler, Justin, Aimee, Emma; three great-grandchildren: Tony, Abby, Evie; his sisters and brothers: Verona Plate, Marcella Federwitz, George (Janice) Schroeder, Gerald Schroeder, LaVerne Muenster; and a sister-in-law: Marjorie Behnke. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Delmar was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Delores; brothers-in-law: Lester Plate, Darlene Schroeder, Edmund Federwitz, George Muenster, Delmar Behnke; and a sister-in-law: Marvis (Merton) Lee. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at St. Peter Lutheran Church (43 N. 3rd St.) in Hilbert with the Rev. Brian Crane officiating. Friends may call at the church from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, May 30, 2011, and on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Century Ridge, especially Ester, Rita, Kim Annette, & Mary; Dr. Tipler, the staff of the Calumet Medical Center, nurses Allison, Kathy, Anne, and Jennifer.
