I think that this is about as valid as it comes. I have recently gath ered tons of Kobussen data but still have some key players missing. The J ohn that you are looking at is a half brother to the John that i am resear ching. Your John was born in 1811, mine in 1822 but they had different MO THERS.From The dutch Archives came the following. If you have other question s, please don't hesitate to ask. I have comprehensive Data on John-1822 a nd both of his wives. However, I am unable to find an obit for wife numb er one who died in Little Chute, WI. in 1888. I have a copy of her probat e, a copy of her death and burial as recorded at the Diocese, but I cann ot find an obit nor death Cert. which may give me the names of her parent s. So frustrating. In the Civil registrat ion files I found that Theodora Cobissen-Beijers Second wife of My GG Gran dfather and mother of John Kobussen-1822, jvr) (baptized in Etten, Gendrin gen municipality, 10 June 1790), left Zevenaar in February 1850 (no exa ct date) for America, together with her son Antonius Cobissen, born Zevena ar 12 January 1833.Her older son Johannes, born Zevenaar 19 March 1822, (John married Hendri ka Vinkenvleugel in October, 1847 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Suder wick, Prussia, She died in 1888, he then married Bardeen Thomassen and th ey had 6 children.) He died in 1906 and is buried at St. John's Cemete ry in LC. in a marked grave with a HUGE MONUMENT. jve)emigrated to Ameri ca earlier, to Boston, on 27 November 1847. (He didn't check out at the ti me, but his mother came to the city hall to tell this on 19 January 1848 .) I think the reason stated for emigrating, "to join family or friends ", pertains to this son. A complicating factor is that another Johannes Co bissen emigrated, born Zevenaar 3 January 1811, with his family, in May 18 66. This is the father of Bernard who married Joanna Onkles. This John Ko bussen married Mechtildis Smits. They had at least 6 children. Based on t he data that I have, Bernard was the youngest being born in 1848 and di ed in 1930. I have pictures of their headstones from St. Mary's Cemeter y. I believe that Bernard and Joanna had at least 11 children.Two of th em moved to Canada and lived out their lives there, their names were Prest on and Peter. (jvr) Remarkably he wasa son of Willem Cobissen too, from his first marriage to Hendrina Tolhuiz en (she died in 1815). Giesen, archivist The two people that I most need data on are Hedrika Kobussen and Theodo ra beijer Cobissen vinkenvleugel. I cannot find a death date for Theodo ra and cannot find an obit for Hendrika.A note of interest, probably not of importance is that the Probates of Hen drika and John Kobussen combined total near 150 pages. They were apparent ly very wealthy people. At the time of Hendrika Kobussen's DEATH-1888 S HE had cash assets of over two thousand dollars. john Kobussen left appro ximately 18,000 dollars at his death in 1906. If you are familiar with Li ttle Chute, I am not, John and hendrika Kobussen bought a home on Grand Av enue there in 1869. That is where Hendrika and john both died. John le ft 6 young children. The home was left to his two daughters with the prov ision that their Mother could reside in the house until her death. Appare ntly his will was not followed since some of the property was sold befo re the death of his wife or it may have been given to the church. The hom estead at some point in time became a part of St. John's Convent. I thi nk this must have been a very dysfunctional family. John-1822 was more th an 65 years of age when he married a very young girl and proceeded to ha ve all of these children. according to the Appleton Police Museum, the el dest son Of john-1822 committed suicide while serving as a Motorcycle C op for the city of Appleton. It is a very long, interesting genealogy sto ry, but i guess it is only of interest to those of us who are researchi ng it. Sorry to have been so lengthy. If you have any contacts in CALUM ET COUNTY, I surely could use some help in locating a death date for Theod ora Vinkenvleugel/Finkenflugel/fink. I know that she was living during t he summer of 1863 and I know that Hermanus married AGAIN in October., 188 4. He was a very old man also, married a very young woman and they h ad 7 children. Therefore, I know that the timeline of death for Theodora w as within that time frame and that Hermanus Vink./Fink lived in the Woodvi lle Township, near the Dundas post Office from at least 1860 to 188 0, so I would assume that Theodora died there.Should you want more information, don't hesitate to ask, I may or may n ot have anything that will be of benefit to you.
