  Notes	Alex's parents emigrated from France in about 1861. It has been said h is Mother was a doctor of some kind and that they came over for the trip b ecause of husband's poor health. Alexander had one sister, Cecelia, born in France and 5 years older than h e. He married at age 37 had two children. He was one of the first settle rs in the Dakota Territory in the Jamestown area. Alex came by ox cart from Bordulac, Wi. At one time he was the largest farm owner in Stutsman Cou nty. Education is unknown but it is said he quit after the 4th grade and left home to farm.
