  Gertrude Koenen, age 81, of Appleton, passed away at Colony Oaks Care Center on Monday, October 11, 2010. Gertrude was born on May 28, 1929, in Combined Locks, to the late George and Johanna (Verhallen) Koenen. Gertrude was a dietary assistant at St. Elizabeth Hospital Food Service Staff for over 50 years. Survivors include her sisters, Mildred Wachtendonk, Kimberly; Margaret Pennings, Menasha; Johanna (George) Heider, Neenah; her brothers-in-law, Richard Van Ryzin, Appleton, and John Rietveld, Combined Locks. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Harriet Rietveld, Ada Van Ryzin, and Margaret Koenen; her brother Tony Koenen; and her brother-in-law, Ted Wachtendonk. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2010, at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 E. Wallace Street, Combined Locks, with Fr. Andrew Kysely officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. A memorial has been established in her name.
