    Obituary:
    Donald J. Van Rite, 70, Oconto, and formerly of De Pere, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2007.
    Don was born in Green Bay, to the late Henrietta (Roffers) and Norbert Van Rite.
    In 1966, he married the former Kathryn (Kay) Reince at St. Francis Cathedral in Green Bay.
    Don and Kay lived in De Pere until 1993 when they moved to Oconto.
    Don retired from Paper Converting Machine Company in 1998. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Third Armor Division in Germany. He was an active member and vice president of the Oconto American Legion Post 74 and a member of Holy Trinity Parish.
    He coached youth hockey, softball, basketball and football. Don enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, splitting wood, fishing, playing cards and listening to "God's music" also known as polkas.
    Don is survived by hs wife of 40 years, Kathryn; two daughters, Tracy (Barry) Elwood, Amery; Jennifer Van Rite, Green Bay; four grandsons, Ryan, Luca, Spencer, and Peter Elwood, all of Amery. Also, many aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
    Donald was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry Van Rite.
    Visitation for Don will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, corner of Lourdes and Suburban, De Pere, from 3 to 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, April 16, 2007, at church from 9:30 a.m. until Mass. Burial will be in Oconto Catholic Cemetery. Ryan Funeral Home, De Pere is assisting the family.
    In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Myelodysplastic Syndrome International Foundation, P.O. Box 613, Annapolis, MD 21404 or donations of blood and platelets be made to your local Red Cross Agency.
    The family extends their appreciation and thanks to Amber Bourassa, Oncology and OPNC nurses at St. Mary Hospital, especially Rith, Elaine and Chris from hospice. Please visit w.w.w.ryanfh.com to send online condolences to the family.
