    • Hello Jay, I'm sorry and yes i mean Melvin Gallea. I was just wondered who was his father.
I'm trying to give you short and clearly information
Stephen B. Gallea 1811-1888 and his first wife Emiline Winters 1815-1855 came to Boone County Illinois (border of Wisconsin state line) from Ellisburg Jefferson Co New York. His wife Emiline buried in Boone County Illinois but Stephen B. Gallea and family moved to Crawford Co. Kansas in around 1857.
Burton Gallea and his wife Melissa lived in Outagamie County WIsconsin. He was son of James Gallea who was brother of Stephen B. Gallea.
Stephen B. Gallea's eldest son was Stephen Valentine Gallea 1833-1863. He was 33 years old but I don't know if he was married or had kids before his death?
Stephen Valentine Gallea was Civil War Soldier for Kansas infantry 6th regiment Co A, K and also Wisconsin cavalry 3rd regiment Co I
He was involved in Baxter Springs Massacre in Kansas on October 6, 1863 along his group about over 120 dead by Quantrill's Guerrillas (includes Jesse James and his brother Frank James). Stephen V. Gallea's General was James Blunt escaped from massacre.
I read a book called Massacre at Baxter Springs by Thomas Smith and it said 11 people died from Outagamie County WI at Baxter Springs.
I don't know if Stephen V. Gallea was from Outagamie County or Kansas. That's why I asked you if you knew who was Melvin Gallea's father.
I looked for Gallea in census 1850 and 1860 in Boone County Illinois and Outagamie County Wisconsin but i don't find any Gallea on the list except Burton Gallea in Outagamie Co.
But Melvin Gallea was born in Minnesota ??? What county if you know???
I have an old ambotype picture of Stephen V. Gallea worn civil war clothes and cap. I have his old fifes.
Thank you and please let me know if you found something. God bless you! Here's some pictures below about Stephen Valentine Gallea civil war record.
      Happy Valentine Day Thanks
