  Walter J. Manial, age 76, of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at Manor Care Health Services with his loving family by his side. He was born November 24, 1930, in Saginaw, MI, son of the late Walter and Frances (Sawicki) Manial. He married Patricia L. Brandel July 10, 1953, sharing 53 years together. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked in construction as a mason for his own business and also for Miller Masonry and Ken Fredrickson Masonry. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and Appleton VFW Post 2778. Walter was an outdoors man who loved fishing and various hobbies which included wood working and building radio controlled models. He always enjoyed road trips with his son David when they would go to the lakes and job sites. He took a special interest studying and talking about Korean War History. Walter is survived by his wife Patricia, Appleton; a son David Manial, Appleton; five daughters and two sons-in-law: Geraldine Wolff, Appleton; Janette Manial, Chicago; Mary and Mike Viator, LA; Jackie and David Flanigan, Appleton and Jill Manial, Appleton; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Tom and Karen Manial, Frankenmuth, MI; Frank Manial, Sanford, MI; three sisters: Dorothy Bryant, Saginaw, MI; Margie Boghner, Kalamazoo, MI; Deloris Marks, Rose City, MI; eight grandchildren: Brian Wolff, Erica Spielmann, Stephanie Wolff, Darek, Cody and Devin Flanigan; Nicole and Mackenzie Viator. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane (Michael) Lenkowski; a sister-in-law, Donna Manial and two brothers-in-law: Jack Boghner and Gordon Bryant. Mass of the Resurrection will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2007, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerald Falk officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park at 2 p.m. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established. Walter was a wonderful loving and caring husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Manor Care and to Walter's good friend Father Gerald Falk for his special love, support and prayers during this difficult time.
