  Herman W. Reckert, age 69, of Fremont, died on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center in Neenah. He was born on September 25, 1939, the son of the late Herman and Kreszenz Reckert. He served his country in the US Army. After his service in the Army, Herman worked for Stolper Steel in Menomonee Falls, WI and then at the Waupaca Foundry. On December 16, 1982, Herman married Joan Alswager in Waupaca. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Herman is survived by his wife, Joan, a daughter, Renee Reckert, Menomonee Falls, WI, a son, Todd (Laura) Reckert, Tuscon, AZ; three grandchildren: Kurtis, Kandy and Krystal; a sister, Margaret (Wayne) Schmidt, Germantown, WI; four step-sons: Steven, David, Thomas, and Rick Alswager, eight step-grandchildren, 13 step-great-grandchildren, a nephew, Rob (Margaret) Schmidt, and their children: Sarah, Hannah and Herman, a niece, Rebecca (Shane) Ley, and their daughters, Kayleigh and McKenna. Herman will also be missed by many friends he had made in his lifetime. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2009, at 5 p.m. at the Lewin Funeral Home in Fremont. Rev. Nathan Liedtke will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 4 p.m. until the time of service.
