JOHN CONROY
John Conroy. 57. retired member of Appleton fire department. died at 7:30 Friday evening at his home, 450 South Elm-st. following an extended
illness. He was a member of the department for 25 years, entering when the paid fire department was established, and was serving as assistant
chief when ho was forced to retire Jan. 1. 1921 because of ill health. Mr. Conroy had been on the decline since he was overcome during a fire at the
Fox River Paper ago. Deceadent is survived by his widow. one son, John. Jr., and one daughter. Mary, both of Chicago: three sisters.
Mrs. Matt Carney, Kaukauna: Miss Loretta Conroy, Chicago: Mrs. James Grady, Chicago. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 Monday morning from St. Mary church, with burial at St. Mary cemetery.
