Obituary:
Jennie Schultz Mesman, Menasha, 100, died Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center. She was born April 4, 1908, in the Town of Maine, Outagamie County. She is the last surviving child of George E. and Vernie L. (Greeley) Shepherd. On April 22, 1926, Jennie married Gustav Schultz. Gus preceded her in death on November 16, 1968. She then married Jacob Mesman who preceded her in death in 1975. Jennie enjoyed knitting rugs and was known for her embroidered hand towels. She was a resident of Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center since 1997 and especially enjoyed visits from therapy dogs.
Jennie is survived by her son, Neal (Susan) Schultz; and many nieces, nephews and her best friend, Bea Davis. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Ruth Huberty, Isla Anderson, Carrie Genske and Edna Kasten; three brothers: Harold, Arthur and Teddy Shepherd; and her beloved Pomeranian, Sonny.
Funeral services will be held at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Menasha, on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at 12 p.m., with the Rev. David Skarsten officiating. A visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Town of Black Wolf.
