Excerpts from "One Hundred Years of Mackville" 1849-1949 Page 36, in 1885, donations of statues recorded as "the St. Joseph statue by Nick Gregorius, Joseph Peter, Leo Alesch and Andrew Turk", then later on then same page, they describe the instance in the same year,"Shortly after his arrival, Father Stern started work on a new residence just north of the school building in order that the Parish might have Religous for the instruction of the children. The building cost in the neighborhood of one thousand dollars. Our books show that Nick Gregorius and Martin Striegel mortaged their farms for $1400 to secure the ready cash."   Herr Nic Gregorius, der Schassmeister von Town Center, ist am lesten Freitag Nachmittag im Prescott Hospital zu Appleton, wo er sich schon seit laeanerger Zeit in aertzlicher Behandlug besand, dem Kieren un Leberleiden, das ihn schon seit Monaten an's Krankenlager sesselte, erlegen, Er war ein ersolgreicher un allgemein geachteter Farmer von Town Center, dessen Bewohner ih Wiederholt durch Erwaehlung zu Ehren und Vertrauensstellungen ehrten. Im kraeftigsten Mannesalter, 42 Jahre alt, wurde er in's Jenseits abberufen und ausser der Gattin, einer Tochter des Herrn Peters von Center, beweined sechs kleine Kinder den vorzeitigen Verlust des Vaters.Der Verstorbene war aus dem Grossherzogthum Luxemburg gebuertig, kam aber schon truehzzeitig naacch dem Ver. Staaten, wo er frueher in Milwaukee County und seit etwa 14 Jahern in Town Center wohnte.Seitt etwa 1 1/2 Jahren gehoerte Herr Gregorius dden "Kath. Nittern von Wisconsin" an un hatte sein Leben fuer $2000 in diesem Orden versicheert. Etwa sechzig Mitgliedeeeer des Appleton Zweiges des Orddddens betheriligten sich ausser vielen anderen Freunden des Verlebten tross der aesserst unguenstigen Witterung and der am Sonntag Nachmittag in der St. Edwards Kirche in Center abgehaltenen Beerdigungsseier. Translation: Herr Nick Gregorius, the treasurer of the Town of Center, last Friday afternoon in Prescott Hospital of Appleton, where he had been some months in medical treatment for the kidneys and liver complaints, succumbed. He was a successful and general farmer from the Town of Center, whose occupants honored him repeatedly through election to honor and positions of trust. In strong manhood, 42 years old, will he in the next world be remembered, and in addition to the wife, a daughter of Herr Peters from Center, weep six small children for the premature loss of their father. The deceased was a native of the grand duchy Luxemburg, come at an early age to the U.S., where he earlier in Milwaukee Co., aaand for the last 14 years lived in Town of Center. For around 1 1/2 years Her Gregorius belonged to the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin, and had his life insured for $2000 in this Order. Around sixty members of the Appleton branch of the order took part, also many other friends of the deceased took comfort in the utmost unfavorable weather on Sunday evening at the funeral ceremony in the St. Edward's Church.
