Betters, Arthur E.; 305 E. 7 th Street, KaukaunaAge 75, passed away Monday, June 23, 2003 at his home surrounded by his fa mily. Art was born in Quinnessec, Michigan on September 14, 1927, son of t he late Joseph and Alice (Jamarr) Betters. He had been a Kaukauna reside nt since 1948, and was employed at Thilmany Pulp and Paper for over thirty -six years, retiring in 1985. On June 19, 1948, Art married the former Ber nice Mischler at St. Mary Catholic Church in Kaukauna. He was a longtime m ember of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kaukauna and a member of the Quart er Century Club at Thilmany. He is survived by his wife: Bernice Bette rs of Kaukauna; three sons: Daniel (Monica) Betters of Menasha; David Bett ers of Kimberly; Anthony (Jean) Betters of Kimberly; five daughters: Kathl een Krahn of Kaukauna; Carolyn (Michael) Hackel of Combined Locks; Patric ia Oates of Appleton; Teresa Maas of Kaukauna; Laura (Robert) Rolf of Kauk auna; twenty grandchildren: Sue (Phil) Sobiek, Christine and Heather Krah n, Emily and Amanda Hackel and her fiance Jason Lamine, Beth Apitz, Bren t, Jonathon, and Amie Betters, Michael, Paul and Kaitlin Oates, Nicholas a nd Scott Maas and his fiance Kathy Schevers, Brian and Brenda Schuh, Carme n, Robyn, Natasha and Shannon Rolf and her fiance Michael Verhagen; thr ee great-grandchildren: Jade and Trent Sobiek, and Trenton Verhagen; his s pecial little friends Ryan and Maddie Veldman; an aunt Doris Borden of Nee nah, and a great aunt Lillian Betters of Powers, Michigan. Arthur was al so survived by his sisters-in-law: Patricia and Shirley Betters of Kimberl y, Phyllis (Don) Craney of Crivitz; his brother-in-law Maurice (Ethel) Bro ckman of Darboy, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in dea th by five sisters: Eunice and Lorraine Betters, Evelyn Vander Zanden, Ro se Hunter, and Marilyn Brockman; five brothers: twins Louis and Howard w ho died at birth, Emil, Willard, and Howard Betters and his daughter Dia ne Depner; his brothers-in-law Adrian Vander Zanden, and Wayne Hunter; h is son-in-law Robert Krahn; and two grandchildren Maria Krahn, and Ann Fra nces Betters.The funeral liturgy for Art will be held on Thursday, June 2 6, 2003 at 5:00 PM at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 119 W. 7th Street in Kauka una with Fr. Robert Udulutsch, OFM Cap. officiating. Interment wi ll be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on T hursday from 3 PM until the hour of the service. A memorial fund is bei ng established. Special thanks: to our friends, friends of our childre n, grandchildren, relatives, neighbors, caregivers, and all who help ed in our efforts to keep Art at home these past six years. Thank you f or the visits, the encouragement, the tolerance, the prayers, the treat s, and all the little things that maybe you didn't even realize you were d oing. Thank you Betty and Denny, Margy and Frank, Erica and her chauffe ur and friend Charlie, Norma and Lewis, Mary and Hank, Les and Dar, and sp ecial dedicated brother-in-law Maurice, and to the Saint Vincent De Paul S ociety; our wonderful neighbors, Dave, Ellen and Russell, and their lovi ng children, Jim, Randy and Tammy, and Margaret; Father Bob and all the pe ople at St. Mary's especially the heart of our parish Sister Francine, t he staff at Kaukauna Clinic, especially Dr. Danz, his nurses, and the l ab personnel whose patience care and concern went far beyond the call of d uty. For the warmth and care extended by hospice not only to Art but his e ntire family; the nurses and staff at AMC for their outstanding care duri ng Art's many visits; sister Joy and the outreach staff at St. Paul Eld er Services.
