  Kaukauna Times
  Mathias Brill, one of the early pioneers of the south side, died at his ho me last Sat Sept 22, aged 78 years. Deceased was born in Prussia a nd at an early age came to America settling in Milwaukee where he resid ed until 1861 when he located to this point. The south side at that time w as in almost a wild state. He resided for some time on the old Evert Sande rs farm which was situated where the Northwestern shops now stand. Deceas ed was an uncle to Chairman John Brill of Buchanan. He leaves a wife, 3 bo ys and 2 girls. The funeral was held at St. Mary's Tuesday. 1900 Kaukauna Sun dated 9/28/1900Matthew Brill one of the first settlers died at Buchanan Saturday ag ed 80 years old leaves wife and family of 6, 4 daughters and 2 sons.
