- Francis A. ""Fran"" Brux, 86, passed away on Sunday, August 19 at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac. Fran was born August 7, 1926, the son of William and Theresa (Hein) Brux. At the age of 18 he got a greeting from President Roosevelt (FDR) and was inducted into the army at Fort Sheridan, IL on December 22, 1944. He took his basic infantry training at Fort Hood, TX. He joined the 27th regiment of the 24th Wolfhound Division in the Philippines on the island of Luzon. At the end of World War II he was part of the first occupational forces to enter Japan. Fran served his time there as a Battalion Supply Sergeant. He was discharged in November 1946.
On September 10, 1949, Fran married Pat Seif. They settled on a small farm in the Town Kaukauna and in April of 1965 he started his career in farm finances as a loan officer with Appleton Production Credit Association, now known as Farm Credit Services. Fran retired in 1987. Fran and Pat, being avid campers, took a job with the Wisconsin DNR as Resident Managers at their favorite campground at Star Lake, WI. They retired from this at the end of the 1997 camping season. Being full-time campers, they spent the winter months in the Rio Grande Valley at Mission, TX, and the summer months in the north woods of Wisconsin.
Fran is survived by his wife Pat, and six children: Ronald (Lynn) Brux of Bloomington, Illinois, and their children Mike Brux, Melissa (Sky) Watkins and Jeramy (Alicia) Brux; Keith (Jackie) Brux of River Falls, and their children Corey Brux and Christina (Eric Mburu Makobu) Mburu; Robert (Denise) Brux of Fond du Lac, and their children Laura and Lisa; Jeanne Brux of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mary Sue (Andy) Land of Fond du Lac, and their children Sam, Ben, and Matthew; Karen ( Jorge Larranga) Brux of Redwood City, California, and their children Sofia and Luca. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Alexandria, Clementine, Wesley, Ariana, Caleb, and Sebastian Brux and his sisters Germaine Brockman, Rosemary Berceau, Bette Van Dyke and Roberta Ramthun. Fran was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Harlan and William Jr.; and two sisters, Julia Schiedermayer and Ethel Luniak.
The funeral liturgy will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at HOLY FAMILY PARISH, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac at 11:00 AM. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 9:00 AM until the time of the services at the church.
