- Marvin E. Valentine, 90, of Green Bay passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2009. Marvin was born May 29, 1918 in the town of Maple Grove, Shawano Co., the son of the late John and Mary (Nelson) Valentine and was a 1936 graduate of East High School. He married Mildred Finnel on August 28, 1943 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Marvin served his country in the U.S. Navy Amphibious Pacific Corps during WWII and is a life-time member of VFW post #2037. He was employed for 44 years at Atlas Cold Storage. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Millie, two children; Rosemarie (Charles) Capelle, Green Bay and Michael (Connie) Valentine, Green Bay; six grandchildren Christine Jahnke, Kelly (Rob) Walters, Paula Capelle, Michael Capelle, Melinda Valentine and Daniel Valentine; one great-grandson Ashton Rowell; dear family friend Wally Bettin, brother and sisters-in-law, Marie Boerchinger, Lillian Finnel and Norbert (Ann) Finnel. Besides his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by five brothers; Arthur, Ward, Harvey, Roy and Lloyd Valentine, one sister; Elsie Anderson and numerous other in-laws and relatives. Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. and again on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at St Philip the Apostle Church, 312 Victoria St. Parish wake service will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at the church with Rev. David Pleier officiating. Entombment in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Marvin's name is being established. Marvin's family would like to express a sincere thank you to the volunteers and staff of Unity Hospice, Santa Maria Nursing home, N.E.W. Curative Care, Aurora Baycare Medical Center and Drs. Meves and Napier for their care and concern. Also a special thank you to Sr. Helen Keyzer for her compassion and prayers.
