  Nora McHugh - Chilton Times Journal - May 2, 1952 Judy McHugh shared this information Stockbridge Woman Passes Away in Her Daughter's Home Stockbridge - Mrs. Nora McHugh,93, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bertha Gerhartz, Monday after a long illness. She was probably the oldest Gold Star mother in Calumet County. Mrs. McHugh was born Nora O'Toole May 24, 1858, in Canada, and came to this country as a child. She married Michael McHugh and together they operated a farm north of Stockbridge for many years. Mr. McHugh passed away some years ago. For the past five years she had been living with her daughter Mrs. Gerhartz. Mrs. McHugh remained active until the last few years and was able to attend church regularly. She was a member of the Christian Mothers of St. Mary's and the Auxillary of the William Hostettier post of the American Legion. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. William Jaeger of Chilton and Mrs. Gerhartz; four sons, Edward of Milwaukee, Harry and Ray of Racine and Leonard of Stockbridge; two brothers and a sister, 19 grandchildren and eight great-grand children. A son Tom was one of the first soldiers from this area to be killed in the first world war, and another son Emmet died in 1919. Funeral services were held at 9:00 Wednesday morning at St. Mary's church, Stockbridge, with Rev. Theo. Kersten officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
