  John C. Kamps died Tuesday, Jan 4th 1921 in Webster. He was born April 17, 1841, in Menyelen, Rhine Province, Germany. He was 79 years, 8 months and 17 days old at the time of his death. Deceased came to America in 1858 locating in Appleton, Wis. In February 1868 he was united in marriage to Rose Foster. In 1882 he filed on a homestead in Grant county, near Milbank, and moved with his family on to the claim, where they resided until fall of 1907, when the family moved to Webster, were he resided until the time of his death. The last years he has lived with his daughter, Mrs. John Neumann. John C. Kamps was a German gentleman of the old school and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He lived a long and useful life and the world is a better place for his having lived in it. He leaves to mourn his loss 10 children, 29 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. The children are: Henery Kamps of Harvey N.D.; Mrs. Agnes Neumann of Webster,; Charles Kamps of Post Falls Idaho,; Mrs. Kate Schmitt of Webster,; Alois Kamps and Mrs. Ann Miller of Froid, Mont.,; Theodore Kamps of Van Hook N.D.,; Mrs. Rose Naessig of Moore, Mont.,; Mrs. Mary Schmitt of Pangborn, Ark.,;and John Kamps of Timber Lake. The five sons beside the daughters living here were at the funeral, John being accompanied by his wife. The funeral was held from St. Otto's Catholic Church in Webster Friday, Fr. Mesgr. Mensing conducted the service, interment was made in St. Otto's Cemetery. The remains were followed to the tomb by a large concourse of freinds and neighors. from the obit in Webster newspaper "The Reporter and Farmer"
