  Information from Mary Beth Biese - Letter transcribed written by Magdale na about Cornelius when He died Dear Ones All October 1, 1936 Just a few lines this morn to let you know that Pa is down in bed for t he last few days. He has pain in his back and right side under his ar m. He just screams if you take hold of him to change the bed and his clot hes are very much wet and he keeps on moving and talking. When you ask h im if he has pain he says no, only when you try to move him, so God only k nows how it will go. He don't eat as much as he used to when you were her e. Fr. Van Dyke was here to see him then he was sitting up yet. He sa id he would bring him Communion on Wed morn. When he was ready to give h im Communion he would not open his mouth for it with all the coaxing we do ne for nothing. Father said it was no use. Then when he was gone I ask ed him why he didn't take it he said yes why didn't I. Aunt Kate is wi th me since Tues. She is going to church tomorrow and will come back S un eve if I want her. The boys are filling silo at Johns. Will finish to morrow then they have Lawrence yet. Hank Greenen was found dead in his barn yard last eve. He was getting the cows but couldn't get them. Ann, wi ll you drop a card to Magdalene and Loretta. Let them know about Pa. I d on't think he will get out of bed anymore. He don't make any attempt to g et up. It takes 2 to handle him. Let Thresa read this also. Tell Loret ta to write how Magdalene is, this is all I can write for now, will get so me cards today. Will write again soon. She was m oved between each of Her children on a monthly basis. She was staying wi th Peter and Elizabeth when Peter Vandenberg was killed in an Auto acciden t. At that time Clement Vandenberg, his brother picked Her up and moved h er to Freedom Wi. Per self Bio of Clem and his wife She had stayed with t hem for 17 years just after Clem and Margaret were married.
