  Robert Carl H. Brandt "Bob", 85 died July 31, 2015, following a long struggle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Bob was born May 22, 1930, to Emil and Martha Brandt and graduated in 1948 from Appleton High School (West) having excelled in three sports; football, basketball and track. He went to the University of Wisconsin and then to Texas A and I (now Texas A and M Kingsville) on a full athletic scholarship. He participated in 3 sports while attending A and I and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1976. He majored in Industrial Arts and taught for one year in Raymonville, Texas, before entering the Army as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Security Agency. He served two years in Germany and was able to visit many of his relatives. In 1956 he married Audrey Boettcher and they enjoyed 59 years together. They spent 6 years in Galien and Three Oaks Michigan before moving back to Appleton in 1963 where Bob continued his teaching career. He earned a Master's Degree from Stout and taught for the next 30 years at Roosevelt Middle School. Besides his teaching, he was always involved in coaching various sports with his longest time spent with girl's softball at Appleton West. He took part in the development of the Senior Girl's Little League Softball program and coached women's softball during the summer. He had been very active in his church as well as the Golden K Kiwanis of Appleton, serving in many leadership roles for both organizations. Bob was always ready to help people in any way he could and often gave up his time for others in need. He was a volunteer for the United For Reading Success program for 14 years and also enjoyed his time reading to kindergarteners. For recreation Bob enjoyed golfing and fishing, spending 30 years fishing with friends for a week in Canada. He also had a love for the Badgers and Packers and rarely missed watching a game. Both he and Audrey enjoyed traveling and were able to visit and explore many places in the U.S. as well as many countries overseas. Bob had a passion for woodworking and his friends and family have benefitted from his many beautiful projects he made. He also loved watching his grandchildren as they participated in various activities. Bob is survived by his wife, Audrey; daughters, Deborah (Jay) Hodson, Kathryn (Jen Rinehart); grandchildren, Alison, Emilee and Matthew Hodson; brothers, Bill (Ardis) and Ken (Kent Simon); brother-in-law, Clifford Boettcher; 3 nephews and one niece. A Celebration of Life will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 325 East Franklin Street in Appleton with Rev. Markus Wegenast officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday, August 22 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
