DeGroot, Bernard MartinBernard Martin DeGroot, age 90, of Seymour died peacefully early Monday ev ening, June 16, 2003 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Seymour. He was the s on of the late Martin and Elsie (Raleigh) DeGroot born on July 8, 19 12 in Green Bay. Bernard was united in marriage to Louisa Demuth on June 2 5, 1938 at Holy Martyrs of Gorcum, Green Bay. Together they farmed for ov er 35 years in Glenmore, DePere and Hofa Park areas; retiring in 1986. Th ey then moved to Seymour and have lived in town for 17 years. Bernard w as an avid Packer fan, he enjoyed card parties, watching TV and spending t ime with his large family. He was a loving, hard-working husband, fathe r, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved and enjoyed his friends a nd family. He will be missed by all who knew him.Bernard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Louisa; five sons: Norbert (S andra), Hofa Park; Lawrence (Joan), DePere; Richard, Green Bay; James (Flo rence), Seymour; Michael (Karen), DePere; eight daughters: Mary (Gerald) L etter, Michigan; Florence (Robert) Bartman, New Holstein; Margaret (Richar d) Forsythe, DePere; Agnes (Gary) Schussman, DePere; Suzanne (Frank) Walen ta, Sheboygan; Loretta (Paul) Paiser, Green Bay; Eleanor (Michael) Luca s, Suamico; and Rosemary (Richard) Brunner, Green Bay; his 36 grandchildre n, and 34 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by one brother, Robe rt DeGroot; and one sister, Dorothy LeMere. Also, many nieces, nephews, ot her relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his son, Martin DeGroot; his stepfather, Geor ge Gillis; sisters-in-law, Genevieve DeGroot and Edna Demuth; also, his br others-in-law, Elmer Demuth, Herman Urbanc and Joseph LeMere.Friends may call at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 915 Ivory Stree t, Seymour on Thursday, June 19, 2003 from 4 to 8 p.m. with a parish wa ke service at 7:30 p.m. The visitation will continue Friday after 10 a.m ., at the church, until the time of services. The Mass of Christian Buri al will be on Friday, June 20, 2003 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Cat holic Church, with the Reverend Father Martin Fox celebrating. The buri al will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, DePere. The Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Hom e, Seymour is assisting the family.Special thanks to the Good Shepherd Nursing Home staff and Deacon Orvel le DeBruin for their special care and concern for Bernard.
