  Jane E. Houfek, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2011. On November 12, 1920, Jane was born to the late Rose Rippl and George Beisenstein. As a student at Neenah High School, she was on the tennis team and enjoyed playing volleyball. During WWII she went to San Francisco, CA to work and met her future husband Bill Houfek. After the war, they returned to Neenah to live and start a family. Jane loved taking care of her family and her two Yorkshire Terriers Teenie and Holly. She loved dancing, listening to music, taking walks, playing cards with her friends and listening to the Milwaukee Brewers. Jane was known for making the best fudge. Jane also enjoyed shopping and going to the casino with her daughter Sari. Most of all she loved being with her family. Her two grandsons Ryley and Andrew were the light of her life. Jane worked at Tel-Sec, an answering service, for many years. She lived at Island Shores Retirement Living Center and enjoyed the years of camaraderie with her friends there. Jane is survived by her daughter, Sari (Bruce) Ruzek; two grandsons: Ryley and Andrew Ruzek; and a sister, Marion (Beisenstein) Richey. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Elizabeth; sister, Rose (Beisenstein) Biljan; husband, Bill Houfek, and son, Bill Houfek Jr. A Memorial Service for Jane will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Martens-Laemmrich Funeral Home, 312 Milwaukee Street, Menasha with Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. A dinner will be served at a local restaurant after the service to continue celebrating Jane's life.
