- Marlene Beverly Van den Elsen, 78, Kaukauna, died unexpectedly Friday, February 27, 2009, in Kannoplis, North Carolina. She was born February 13, 1932, in Madison, daughter of Albert and Bertha (Purcell) Dyer. Marlene was employed as a housekeeper at Appleton Medical Center. Marlene loved spending time with her family and was an excellent wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, embroidery, doing puzzles and gardening. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Wrightstown.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Ray; her daughters: Wanda (Gregg) Baeten, Kaukauna and Patti (Richard) Secoolish, North Carolina; her sons: Steve, North Carolina; Joseph (Anita), DePere; Marty (Jodie), Greenleaf; Philip, Greenleaf; Dwayne (Sue), Little Chute and Gerald (Brenda), and Curtis (Amy) both of Greenleaf; a sister, Mildred Brunson, Madison; grandchildren: Travis, Amanda, Brad, Kevin, Christa, Tony, Paula, Christopher, Kim, Scott, Nicole, Stephanie, Jerry, Sara, Jessica, Tony, Chaka, Jabob and Matthew; great grandchildren: Tyler, Blake, Carly, Quincy, Isabelle, Andrew, Morgan, Kiera, Sasha, Tony, Crystal and Aiden and a great-great grandson, Matthew; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Richard.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Wrightstown with Fr. Tom Farrell officiating. A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
