John Joseph Gabrielson, age 81, passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, August 6, 2015, at his home. He was born January 10, 1934, in Bear Creek, son of the late John and Katherine Gabrielson. After graduating high school, he entered the U.S. Navy. John worked for over 45 years at Zwicker's knitting mill in research and development. John was an avid sportsman and a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. He is survived by his daughters; Sandra VerBruggen, Susan Gabrielson, and Sarah Gabrielson; and son Scott Gabrielson; 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters: Mary Burd, Irene (Elmer) Ellie; brothers: Russell Gabrielson, Orville Gabrielson, Rick (Barb) Gabrielson; and brother-in-law Roger (Liz) Bratz; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jan, his son Jay and many other loved ones. The memorial service for John will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2015, at the Highland Memorial Park Star of Hope Chapel, 3131 N Richmond St. Appleton.
