My great grandfather ( Peter Schardi ng ) was married twice. His second wife was Elisabeth Ketter . Elisabeth 's mother, was Maia Katrina Wendling. Elisabeth's father was Johann Pet er Ketter. About the time the Scharding's moved to Chilton, WI from St. Nazian z, WI ( 1885 ). The Wendlings in Belgium, WI also moved to Chilton. The s tory goes that Elisabeth came from Germany as a contract bride, 1873-7 4, to marry my grandfather. Is there a family connection between Elisabe th Ketter Scharding and the Wendlings in Chilton?What I have is a picture of Elisabeth about the time she was marri ed to my great grandfather. The picture was taken in Manitowoc, WI. The re is gentleman in the picture that I'm not able to identify. At fir st I thought it might be a Ketter, but that now seems to be unlikel y.
