  Svend Richard Jacobson, 89, of Rice Lake died Friday, September 24, 2010 at Rice Lake Convalescent Center. He was born August 21, 1921 in Denmark to Hans and Karen (Koch) Jacobson. Svend came to the United States with his parents in 1926 and graduated from Milwaukee Vocational School in 1941. He was married in Rice Lake, WI on October 23, 1943 to Gertrude Richter. Svend worked for Volcks Machine Shop rebuilding motors, and in 1954 he purchased the business and renamed it Automotive Rebuilders. In 1976 he sold the business to his employees and went to work maintaining the City of Rice Lake's bus fleet. He retired in 1984 and made many bird houses and painted pictures. He was a life member of The Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #402, achieving his Fellowship Degree, and an active member of the Rice Lake Golden K for more than 30 years. He is survived by: 5 children; Jeanette Galoski of Hiram, GA; Judy Jacobs of Little Canada, MN; JoAnn (Bill) Lammers of Rice Lake; James (Diane) Jacobson of Rice Lake; John (Angela) Jacobson of Newport, MN; 10 grandchildren; Kathy (Doug) Smick, Joey (Charlene) Galoski, Andy (Beth) Galoski, Jen Rufledt, Karen (Russ) Grundy, Michelle (Cole) Inks, Leslie Jacobson, Matthew (Amy) Jacobson, Amber Jacobson, Heidi (Josh) Baruth; 13 great-grandchildren; Chip, Jennifer, Brandon, Athena, Nicholas, Nicole, Calin, Ethan, Kylie, Alex, Lilly, Edward, Theodore. A joint Funeral Mass for Svend and Gert will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church - Rice Lake, WI with Father Dave Oberts officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery - Rice Lake. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM, Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Skinner Funeral Home - Rice Lake, WI with a Moose Memorial Service at 7:30 PM; and visitation for 1 hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
