  Here is a copy of Calista Berres (Sister Minolia) obituary. She was known to us as Aunt Minnie. She first suffered from breast cancer, and later got bone cancer. She suffered alot before she died. She was a very friendly woman. Sister Minolia Berres - Sister Minolia Berres, S.S.N.D., 74, a resident of the Notre Dame Health Care Center, Elm Grove, died there Wednesday ( June 14, 1989) The daughter of the late Matt and Caroline (Grasser) Berres, she was born April 26, 1913 in Kenosha. She attended St. George Parochial School in Kenosha. She entered the Notre Dame convent taking her vows in 1934. She received a bachelor of arts degree from Mount Mary College in sociology, and her masters degree in administration And supervision from De Paul University.Well-known in the education field, in both public and private schools, she was appointed to former Gov. Warren Knowles Commission on Education. She was invited and went to Guam to evaluate schools there and to conduct workshops in modern trends.She was educational consultant for the School Sisters of Notre Dame in the Green Bay diocese participating in workshops and seminars in schools in the U.S., in the Netherlands and England. With a background in national and international schools, she was an active contributor to curriculum study councils. Her most recent teaching assignment was at St. Casimir School in Kenosha. She had been principal of St. Constance and St. Anthony of Padua Schools in Chicago. She was a life member of the National Principal's Association, member of the United Ministries in Public Education and the Independent School's Association. Surviving her are a brother, Clyde Berres, Sycamore, Ill., and three sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Bernice) Manson, Mrs. Norman (Rita) Gravunder and Mrs. LaVerne Haney, all of Kenosha.The Lendman-Mischler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
