- Mary Elizabeth Dougherty, 82, Kaukauna, Wis., Beloved grandmother, wife, mother and daughter, died on Friday, May 18, 2007, at St. Paul Home. Mary was born Nov. 1, 1924, to the late Roman and Gertrude (Vander Heiden) Foegen in Appleton. Mary grew up in Kaukauna and graduated from Kaukauna High School. She married Edwin Mose Dougherty on June 2, 1947, and they enjoyed 24 years of marriage until his death in 1971. Mary worked at Thilmany's during World War II and at Pechman Photography for many years. She cherished many long-lasting friendships, especially with the members of the Club which included Margie Koglin, Florence Brewster, Ethel Wulterkins and Jane Johnson. Mary was a faithful and devoted member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and was a member of the Homemakers Club for many years. She also enjoyed a good cup of coffee while visiting with friends. Mary loved to travel and was fortunate to live in three new houses, one which was built before the street was put in. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Dougherty; and Kathleen (Jarl) Nilsson; two grandsons, Erik and Tom; her brother, Paul (Mary) Foegen; sister-in-law, Dorothy Foegen; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert (Gene) Dougherty and many dear friends, nieces, nephews and family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edwin and her brother, George Foegen.
Mary's Mass of Christian Burial will be 5 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2007, at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2401 Main Avenue, Kaukauna, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends may call directly at church on Monday from 3 p.m. until the time of service. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home is assisting the family. 920-766-2099.
