- Demerath, Peter J., Peter, 80, Darboy, died peacefully on Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at home. He was born May 29, 1929, in Grand Chute, Wis., son of the late Frank B. and Anna M. (Koestler) Demerath. On Nov. 11, 1950, Peter married Germaine Jansen in Little Chute, Wis. The couple enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage together. He was a member of the National Guard and Army Reserves, serving for 14 years. At age 17, Peter began his career with Kimberly-Clark in Kimberly, retiring at age 60 after 43 years of service. Peter was a devoted Catholic, praying the rosary daily. Christian values were the first priority to Pete and Gerry, instilling these in their children with their education at Holy Name Grade School. They always welcomed friends into their home. As a member of Holy Name Parish, he served on the Church Council. He later joined St. Paul Catholic Church, Combined Locks. Pete supported his children's participation in Scouts and was Cub Scout Chairman and Cub Master for Pack 69 in Kimberly. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, theater, and watching sports, especially the Packers. His garden always provided the family with vegetables. Dad and Mom made the best tomato juice. He loved to travel with family and friends. After retirement, he shared many good times with special friends, Ron and Zona Weyenberg. Peter especially enjoyed time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He looked forward to family gatherings, especially his birthday celebration over Memorial Day Weekend, the liver and onions/cribbage tournament on Labor Day Weekend, and Santa Claus' visit December 23rd. Peter loved to play cribbage and Yahtzee. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Gerry, Darboy; his children: Sharon (Leon) Zellner, New Franken; Debbie (Jim) Woroniecki, Dale; Ron (Diane) Demerath, Kaukauna; Dr. Bob (Susan) Demerath, East Amherst, NY; Denise (Steve Verstegen) VandenBosch, Darboy; Marilyn (Tom) Dietman, Phoenix, AZ; Ken (Gail) Demerath, Appleton, and Bill (Shelley) Demerath, Tucson, AZ. 16 grandchildren: Gina (Steve Knapp) Woroniecki-Ziepke, Angela (Klaus) Boelk, Veronica Woroniecki, Jason (Aimee) Demerath, Adam (Amber Hurley) Demerath, Stacy Demerath, Ben Demerath, Danielle Demerath, Jenny (Joey) Tomazevic, Katie (Mike) Lester, Tyler Demerath-Clark, Calvin Demerath, Brandon Demerath, Asha Shanti, Shaddai Demerath-Shanti, Keshava Demerath-Shanti; great-grandchildren: Kiera and Skye (dad Scooter), Asher, Jasmyn, Faith, Caitlin, Trista, Ryan, Peter, Hunter, Kylie, and Maveren (mom Lisa); brothers: Joe, Michael (Dee), Leon (Rosalee), and Al; sisters: Theresa Sears and Betty (Dave) Maas; Godchildren: Diane Gebert, Kathy Pointer, Linda Lichtenwalner, Peter Demerath, Steven Locy, and Richard Lichtenwalner; special nephew and niece: Russ (Deb) Demerath and Dorine (Steve) Rodgers; and special family friend: Margaret Wildenberg. He is further survived by his wife's family: Joan (Jansen) Gebert, Greg (Phyllis) Jansen and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law: Arthur and Evangeline (Windisch) Jansen; an infant sister: Gloria Demerath; brother and sister-in-law: Francis (Lorraine) Demerath; sisters and brothers-in-law: Edith (Russell) Fulcer, Rita (Leo) Bogenschultz, Mary (Elmer) VanderWyst, and Ann (Earl) Van Hammond; brothers-in-law: Raymond Sears and Richard Gebert; sisters-in-law: Janice Demerath and Ellie Demerath; sister and sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Yvonne (Jansen) and John Locy, and special infant great-grandson: Trae Allen Woroniecki-Depner.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 E. Wallace St., Combined Locks, with Fr. Jim Lucas officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. concluding the evening. Friends may call again directly at church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
The family would like to extend special thanks to his heart doctors at AMC whose skilled care gave us 3 additional years with Dad. Thanks to Dr. Jennifer Schoening, Theda Home Care and Hospice for their care and support and to Father Jim Lucas. Also thanks to all our family, friends, co-workers and the Koinonia community for their prayers.
