  Van Lanen, Mary JoMary Jo Van Lanen, 48, completed her journey May 12, 2003, at home surroun ded by her family and friends following a battle with cancer and Multip le Sclerosis. She was born Aug. 1, 1954, in Green Bay, to Ralph and Evel yn Van Lanen. Mary Jo was a Charter member of the N.E.W. Zoo Boosters. S he led a successful, full life including a love of photography and taki ng pictures of animals. This led to the creation of the Power of Pictur es Network (POPn) to help promote the N.E.W. Zoo. She was also the first r ecipient of the Crystal Blossoming award.Mary Jo is survived by her fiance, Ron Ropson; her mother, Evelyn Van Lane n; five sisters, Joyce Schwahn, Green Bay; Linda (Dave Jaloszynski) Hagert y, Cedar Grove; Bev (Mark) Hendricks, New Franken; Diane (Gary) Gierach, H urley; Judy (Steve) Fifrick, De Pere; one brother, Paul (Lisa) Van Lane n, Green Bay; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by dad, Ralph Van Lanen and two brothers, Gary a nd Jimmy.To celebrate her life the family will receive friends at her home on Wedne sday, May 14, at 3418 Sunset Beach Lane, Suamico from 3 to 8 p.m. A speci al thanks to Unity Hospice for their care and support. In lieu of flower s, a memorial fund will be established.
