Zirbel (Mielke), Doro thy Annie OttiliaDorothy Annie Ottilia (Mielke) Zirbel, 87, Wrightstown, passed away Tuesda y, August 8, 2006, at Century Oaks in Wrightstown. She was born Augu st 2, 1919, to the late August and Minnie Mielke. Dorothy married Arthur R etzlaff on April 20, 1939, and he preceded her in death on July 19, 193 9. She married Harold Zirbel on August 8, 1945, and he preceded her in dea th December 22, 1984.Dorothy lived in Wrightstown and was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Chu rch where she was a member of Ladies Aid and Martha Circle and performed m any hour of volunteer service. She loved gardening and working with her fl owers. Dorothy was an employee of Nabisco, Inc. in Wrightstown for 18 year s.Survivors are two sons, Dennis Zirbel of Wrightstown and Arthur (Ardena) R etzlaff of Amberg; two grandchildren, Timothy (Dawn) Retzlaff and childre n: Kyle, Ryan and Lauryn; Shelly Retzlaff and daughter, Abby; sisters: Ma ry Burriss of Anderson, NC; Iris (Ben) Valk of Green Bay; brother, Augu st (Marie) Mielke of Kimberly; sister-in-law, Doris Mielke of Kaukauna; a nd many nieces and nephews, especially Sue and Steve Johnson. Sue was li ke a daughter to Dorothy.Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, Arthur a nd Harold; granddaughter, Jennifer Retzlaff; sister, Leona (Harold) Van De urzen; brothers, Wilmer (Dorothy), Vitalus and Gordon Mielke and Ben (Bett y) Verbeten; brothers-in-law: Lawrence (Adeline), Alvin (Mary) Zirbel a nd Norman Burriss; and sister-in-law, Viola (William) Ray.Family and friends may call Friday, August 11, 2006, from 2:30 p.m. unt il 4 p.m. at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Wrightstown. Funeral servi ce will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at church, with the Rev. Ronald Zindler o fficiating. Interment will be in St. John Ev. Lutheran Church Cemetery. Obituary:
Dennis C. Zirbel, 61, Wrightstown, passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 25, 2008, at a local hospital. He was born August 21, 1946, in Wrightstown, son of the late Harold and Dorothy (Mielke) Zirbel. He graduated from Wrightstown High School in 1965. Following, he worked for Ariens Co. in Brillion; retiring after 30 years. He was a lifetime member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Wrightstown, where he served as Trustee. Dennis enjoyed restoring cars, and recently established the independent car club known as Southern Brown County Car Collectors (SBCCC), with a group of his friends. Dennis had a true admiration for antiques and history. Dennis enjoyed watching the Wrightstown community enjoy the recently established Zirbel Sledding Hill.
Survivors include his brother, Art (Ardena) Retzlaff, Amberg; nephew, Timothy (Dawn) Retzlaff, and their children: Kyle, Ryan and Lauryn, Kaukauna; niece, Shelly Retzlaff and her daughter, Abby (AJ), Menasha; aunts, Mary Burriss; Iris Valk, and Doris Mielke; uncle, August (Marie) Mielke; many cousins, especially the family of Sue and Steve Johnson; Pat and Marie Zirbel; and many friends who were like family to him, especially the families of Gary Hendricks and Marv Bortz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, niece, Jennifer Retzlaff; aunts and uncles: Leona and Harold Van Deurzen, Wilmer and Dorothy Mielke, Gordon Mielke, Ben and Betty Verbeten, Lawrence and Adeline Zirbel, Alvin and Mary Zirbel, Norman Burriss, Viola and William Ray, and Ben Valk.
Family and friends may call Sunday, July 27, 2008, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at DeWane-Cotter Funeral Home, 711 Main St., Wrightstown. Visitation will continue on Monday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Wrightstown. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at church, with the Rev. Ronald Zindler officiating. Interment will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
