Obituary:
Laura VanDalen, Kimberly, 83, passed away peacefully in the presence of h er loving family on August 25 2006, after a courageous 6-year battle wi th cancer. Laura was born on May 26, 1923, in Golden City, Missouri, daugh ter of the late Pierce and Emma Hastings. She lived most of her life in Ap pleton where she worked for Prange's and Gimble's Department Stores. On Au gust 22, 1980, she married John "Jack" VanDalen and moved to Kimberly. Lau ra enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grand children. She also enjoyed golfing, and playing cards and bingo.
Laura is survived by her children: Larry (Patricia) Luedtke of Appleton a nd Patricia (Richard) Biese of Little Chute; a brother: Melvin Hastin gs of Florida; three grandchildren: Tina (John) Weidman of Little Chute; A my (Scott) Manteuffel of Freedom; and Michael Biese of Little Chute; fo ur great-grandchildren: Alex, Kyle and Kelsey Weidman; Dawson Manteuffe l; two step-grandchildren: Tina (Kent) Casey and Tracy Neimuth; four step- great-grandchildren: Brady Manteuffel, Jacob Young, and Jordan and McKynz ie Neimuth. Other survivors include countless nieces, nephews, other relat ives, and many friends.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John "Jack" VanDal en, and many close relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Laura will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 200 6, at 7 P.M. at the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Walter Steinbach offici ating. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Combined Locks. Friends m ay call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5 P.M. until the ho ur of the service.
The family would like to thank Mom's special neighbors, John and Nancy Lan dgraf, for all they did for her; Dr. Avi Bar Lev and his staff, as we ll as the hospice caregivers. Bless you all.
To Our Mom: We miss you so much already, and are so thankful for the close ness we shared and all the good times we spent together. Things were mo re special when we shared them with you. We have so many good memories a nd you will be in our hearts forever. We will miss you and love you foreve r.
